This title is part of a range of reference CD Roms designed especially for Key Stage 1 and provides information on a wide selection of musical instruments. Each instrument is accompanied by a colour photograph, together with its sound and a tune, where appropriate. This combines with two different levels of text (fully narrated for non-readers) for each entry that can be retrieved through the menu, index or search facility. Activities based on musical instruments, a scrapbook, spoken glossary and printable worksheets are all included in the program, which is fully configurable by the teacher. The main menu provides access to the main information section, the activities, spoken glossary, scrapbook and teacher settings section.
The instrument menu subdivides all the instruments included into families and the user simply clicks on an instrument to find out more.
The search page provides another method of locating information on instruments and will try to find a match even if the word is spelt wrongly!
The instrument index provides a list of every instrument used throughout the program. A picture of each is displayed and the user clicks an entry to find out more.
For each instrument, the player can scroll through several pages of narrated information and listen to clips of instruments playing.
The title also features fun activities. In this one the player must click on the correct instrument.
